Abstract

This working paper focuses on work integration social enterprises (WISEs) in Switzerland. The results are taken from a current nationwide research project titled 'the social firm as the cornerstone of social innovation in Switzerland: general conditions, factors of success, and impact (INSOCH)'. Part A describes historical and conceptual contexts. Part B focuses on the identification, description and classification of WISEs. Finally, part C changes the view away from the organizational concept towards the shaping mechanisms (legal frameworks, umbrella organizations and financial supporting mechanism).
