Abstract
In the framework of a new residential project in Geneva, local authorities have developed a private project to promote large scale use of solar heat for space heating and domestic hot water, involving seasonal heat storage in the ground. Nine residential buildings are planned according to the low energy standards Minergie or Minergie-P. In order to take advantage of scaling effects, it is foreseen that existing public buildings in the neighbourhood will be fed with solar heat as well. A feasibility study has been commissioned by local authorities to establish an energy concept involving a central seasonal ground storage, simulate the system thermal performances, perform a pre-optimisation of the system components and assess the project economical part. The results of the study, performed with the TRNSYS system simulation software and the non standard DST model for the ground heat storage, are presented in this paper.
