Abstract
In the lessons of compulsory school the difference between the mathematical point and the point in the other contexts (like the iconographic one) is not emphasized. This means that when the point is finally studied in a more sophisticated mathematical sense at high school, it becomes too late for the students to get it: the other meanings have had the upper hand. This paper informs of researches made by the author on a sample population of pupils from elementary, lower and higher secondary school
