Abstract

A prototype of an imaging system working at microwave frequency is used to nondestructively inspect wood materials. The system is able to collect multi-illumination multiview data in a tomographic arrangement. The measured samples of the scattered electric field are “inverted” by using a numerical code based on the distorted-wave Born approximation. The final results are represented by images of the cross sections of the inspected targets. The paper describes the experimental set up and reconstruction procedure. Moreover, some wood targets are reconstructed starting from experimental data in a noisy environment.
