Abstract

The paper assumes the ‘Wall’ as a traditional tool to establish and preserve sovereignty in different political contexts. Nevertheless, it questions the real possibility of building walls in the current international system. By adopting a theoretical approach based on the literature on sovereignty and verifying a process of loss of control by states, the paper elaborates on the impact of phenomena such as interdependence and globalisation on the redefinition of sovereignty repositories. The hypothesis is the appearance of an unorganised hypocrisy of sovereignty.
