Abstract

As part of the International Society of Business, Economics and Ethics (ISBEE) 7th World Congress, the work entitled “Science and Technology Parks (STP): innovation transformed into social value and regional wellbeing” was presented in the context of the Humanism in management and economics (HUME) discussion Trak. On the one hand, the methodology developed to calculate and monetise the Social Value [specifically in terms of Social Impact of Economic Activity (SV- SIEA)] generated and distributed by the business community of a STP to the main stakeholders: in this case are employees, suppliers, customers, shareholders, financial entities, and public administration (Blázquez et al., 2020; Freeman et al., 2010) was presented and discussed. By increasing evidence in the monetisation of Social Value (SV-SIEA) as a new possible metric in measuring the impact of STPs, including a socio-economic perspective in performance assessment. On the other hand, the first results and evidence emerging from the study carried out at European level in collaboration with the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), University of Deusto (Bilbao - Spain) and University of Insubria (Varese - Italy) were presented and discussed. This Europe-wide initiative was launched in 2021 and currently involves several of STPs spread across six countries.
